Brighter Skin, One Bite at a Time

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good Vitamin C serum in the morning and retinol in the evening. However, after all of the holiday binging combined with cold winter weather, our skin needs ALL the love. That includes from the inside.

Yes, we’ve talked about Hydration & Immunity already. Now, we’re highlighting MUST-HAVE winter beauty foods to incorporate into your diet!

  1. Avocado

    • Everyone knows avocadoes are a great source of healthy fat, but did you know they are packed with Vitamin E and B vitamins. These little guys are pockets of antioxidant and anti-inflammation to help reduce redness in the skin!

  2. Brussels sprouts

    • Brussels sprouts rev up the body’s production of Glutathione (an anti-aging powerhouse), are loaded with Vitamin C to help pump up collagen production, and packed with Vitamin K to nourish your blood vessels. Added bonus….brussels sprouts contain a phytochemical that helps to keep hormones in balance.

  3. Carrots

    • Did you know the beta-carotene in carrots gets converted to Vitamin A? Vitamin A is quite possibly the most beneficial beauty nutrient out there. It helps with collagen regeneration, oil production (i.e. acne), and cell turnover.

  4. Cacao

    • You read that right. CHOCOLATE as a beauty food!! Okay, that may be a bit of a stretch but if you look for dark chocolate with at least 70% cacao, you will reap the antioxidant, UV-protective benefits. Fun fact: cacao increases serotonin and endorphins (aka the happy chemicals in your brain) and makes you feel good!

  5. Bananas

    • Bananas are a great source of silicon, essential to strong hair, nails, and collagen. They also feed the good bacteria in your gut, and, as I’m sure you already know, your skin is a direct reflection of your digestive system!!

  6. Cauliflower

    • Another Glutathione-booster!! In addition to its antiaging and detoxifying abilities, cauliflower also provides Vitamin K to help strengthen your bones!

  7. Kiwi

    • Surprisingly, kiwi is the BEST fruit source of Vitamin C. Can you believe that one kiwi provides an entire day’s worth of Vitamin C?!?! These fuzzy little bundles pack a huge wrinkle preventing, collagen-producing, and skin rejuvenating punch.

  8. Onions

    • I did a double-take on that one, too. Not the most glamorous beauty food, but onions actually are pretty amazing at slowing the aging process and preventing acne.

  9. Oranges

    • Yes, oranges are a great source of vitamin C. However, they provide so much more than that. If you’re anything like me, you try to get every little piece of rind off when peeling it. Well, stop. The white membrane (or pith, I guess it’s called) is a great source of antioxidant flavanoids to help boost immunity. And, remember, looking good is all about feeling good!
