2023 Skincare Habits

Full disclosure: I’m not a New Year’s Resolution kind of gal. Call me a pessimist, but I generally think most resolutions seem pretty unrealistic, hence, why most of them fall to the wayside come February.

Habits, though? I can definitely get down on a good habit. These aren’t things that are going to seem super far out of your norm; however, silly enough, often get missed in our daily routines.

So, without further ado, I give to you my 2023 Skincare Habits…..

Warm Showers

  • No, I’m not referencing anything in regards to jumpstarting metabolism or boosting mood with an ice cold shower to start your morning (although I’m very envious of my husband for doing this).

  • I’m talking quick, lukewarm showers to help retain the moisture barrier of your skin.

  • This La RochePosay Lipikar AP Wash has been an amazing addition to my shower routine to help with that dry, itchy cold weather skin.

Moisturizing

  • I can’t tell you how many times I hear the complaint, “My skin is dry and itchy.”, and when I ask what moisturizer they’re using, they say “None”. Blows my mind.

  • Believe it or not, a daily moisturizer within 3 minutes of showering can do wonders, not just for dryness, but itchiness as well.

  • La RochePosay, CeraVe, Cetaphil, and Eucerin are among my favorite go-tos.

Daily SPF

  • Again, something so simple, yet one of the most frequently missed skincare steps.

  • Sun spots? Wrinkles? Acne scars? Hyperpigmentation? All things that require a daily sunscreen to treat.

  • And, when we say daily, we mean 365 days out of the year. Even on these glooooooomy January days when it seems like we haven’t seen the sun in ages.

  • EltaMD, La RochePosay, CeraVe, and SuperGoop all have fantastic options.

Removing MakeUp

  • Believe it or not, I came up with these based on frequently addressed issues I still find patients running into.

  • You’re not in college anymore. Sleeping in makeup is just plain unacceptable.

  • Once again, CeraVe and Garnier both have great makeup removing balm and/or micellar water options.

Shaving>Plucking

  • Maybe 2023 will finally be the year that you trust us when we say shaving your face will NOT cause hair to grow back coarser, thicker, darker, etc.. Does this happen with your legs? Exactly.

  • Shaving your face causes FAR less irritation than plucking or waxing.

  • These Schick facial razors have been a staple in my bathroom for years.

Dandruff Shampoos

See? I told you…nothing earth-shattering. However, you’d be surprised what consistently incorporating these into your routine will do.

Let’s make 2023 the year where you take control of your skin.

-xoxo
